Dragon Age: The Veilguard Ends Without DLC – BioWare Focuses on Mass Effect 5

Dragon Age: The Veilguard released on October 31, and already many consider it to be one of BioWare’s greatest games. Unfortunately for fans of the Dragon Age series and those playing The Veilguard, BioWare has no immediate plans for DLC as creative director John Epler has revealed the team’s focus has entirely shifted to the new Mass Effect game.


Dragon Age: The Veilguard is one of this year’s best games after releasing on October 31 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Despite the successful lagenerunch and critical praise, fans are in shock after creative director John Elper’s recent revelations that developer BioWare has shifted focus to Mass Effect 5, with no DLC planned for The Veilguard.

Elper’s interview with Rolling Stone offered no news on future Dragon Age: The Veilguard content, surprising fans, particularly with BioWare known for DLC for its previous IPs like Baldur’s Gate 2 and Mass Effect 2.

Why BioWare Is Not Working On The Veilguard DLC

BioWare’s decision not to work on DLC for a new game may come as a surprise to some. To BioWare, Dragon Age: The Veilguard signals a decade of interrupted development as the team was pulled from one project to another. With more than an expected 88 hours to complete the fantasy RPG and its side missions, BioWare feels there is enough content for everyone going forward, even with no DLC or expansions.

Fans concerned about the lack of support for the new Dragon Age game may take comfort from the fact BioWare will update the game with quality-of-life improvements, fixing bugs, and releasing patches when needed. For now, however, it seems the developer considers Dragon Age: The Veilguard complete.
