The new Crazy Taxi game is set to be an open-world multiplayer game as Sega looks to reboot the series.

Is Crazy Taxi a Remake?

Sega’s upcoming Crazy Taxi, the reboot of the classic driving series that first appeared in arcades in the late 90s before moving to consoles, will be an open-world, massively multiplayer game.

In a new developer interview, the devs confirmed a few details, including the fact Unreal Engine powers the game, features a theme park-like map, and that multiple people can play Crazy Taxi at the same time. As pointed out by Automaton, the scope of the AAA game is further confirmed by a recruiting drive by Sega for Crazy Taxy, which they want to be a “large-scale global hit.”

Unfortunately, we don’t have any information on a release date or which platforms the racer will be available on. Sega will likely want to get it out as soon as possible, with the company looking to reboot other classics such as Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, and Golden Axe over the next few years.
