With the announcement of the Battlefield Playtests, EA unveils many new things coming to the series, offering a glimpse at the next Battlefield, and a new community program with Labs.
Discover EA’s decision to have more Playtests for the next Battlefield
Battlefield is the iconic shooting series by DICE and one of EA’s flagship franchises. A series that has been beloved but, in recent years, has lost sight of what made it unique. With the disastrous launch of Battlefield 2042 in 2021, the series only started recovering recently.
EA can no longer afford to fail after numerous recent disappointments, and it seems they are finally ready to refresh things. All without straying too far from the series’ roots, and with many more Playtests and community feedback in mind.
Battlefield Studios: A New Ambitious Beginning for the Series
With confirmation that the next chapter of the Battlefield series is in development, EA’s team has decided to reveal what’s in store for the series. They did so in a 5-minute video where they first introduce Battlefield Studios. A dedicated team for the series made up of members from DICE, Motive, Criterion, and Ripple Effect.
Combining the visions of these different teams into a single project, backed by 20 years of experience in the series. DICE is at the heart of the multiplayer experience, Motive is working on maps for both single-player and multiplayer, and Criterion and Ripple Effect are adding various features to both areas.
Battlefield Labs: Development with Community Feedback and the Alpha
Alongside the announcement of this new dedicated team, EA also launched Battlefield Labs. A new development project where EA will develop the next chapter in collaboration with the community. All on a scale never seen before, aligning with the announcement of many more Playtests.

Offering the chance to actively interact with the development of BF, thanks to content portions that the team will provide to members. They also showed some gameplay clips from the Alpha of the next Battlefield, featuring highly detailed animations, tons of destructibility, and a map reminiscent of the iconic Strike at Karkand. Many people are already signing up for the program.
