Additional Little Nightmares Details Given by Matthew Compher

In a recent interview with GamerHub.Tv, Tarsier Studios’ Level Designer, Matthew Compher gave a few juicy Little Nightmare details. First of all, Compher is part of the Tarsier Studios for six years and counting. As a level designer, Compher says that “level design is a very broad thing to classify. It usually starts with some vague concept or idea.”

Little Nightmares let players take on the role of a little girl named Six. She gets sucked into a nightmarish place called The Maw which looks like a very innocent doll house. Compher says that having a dollhouse as The Maw, “is largely the idea of taking a traditionally safe cutesy thing like a dollhouse and twisting it to create conflict of expectations.” He also adds that “There will be different levels [at The Maw], and that’s all I have to say about that.”

The game is “meant to be played out like an unfolding story”. Compher also says that the game is not actually a puzzle game but a game with puzzle elements. Solving these would actually need critical thinking for you to be able to proceed.

Compher would also want to say that the team worked hard on the game, “We want everyone to know how excited we are to finally show off our labor of love. It’s our first original game as a studio, and we poured our hearts into it.”

Little Nightmares releases on April 28 and is available for PC via Steam and GOG, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
