Xbox Handheld Teased By Asus ROG: Real Or April Fool’s?

ROG and Xbox hint at a handheld console with a shadowy teaser and sly meme. April Fool’s joke or real reveal?

The gaming industry is evolving faster than ever, and one of the most exciting shifts we’re seeing is the growing demand for true on-the-go gaming. The Xbox Handheld Tease: What We Know So Far

Late on March 31, just before the clock struck April Fool’s Day, the official ROG Global X account dropped what could be the first look at the rumored Xbox handheld. Though it was more of a cryptic tease than a full-blown reveal, it was enough to get the Xbox community excited.

The image, mostly in shadows, shows just a faint glimpse of the new handheld. What we can see includes what appears to be a slightly larger display compared to ROG Ally, two asymmetrical analog sticks, and pink LED lighting under the thumbsticks. The post was accompanied too by hashtags like #PlayALLYourGames and #NextLevelGaming hinting at cross-platform or all-access gaming features.

Then to add more fuel to thefire, the official Xbox account cheekily responded to the post with a meme specifically the classic puppet monkey doing a nervous side-eye. The reply was both hilarious and suspiciously well-timed.

Naturally, the timing of the post being so close to April 1st made many wonder if it was all just a very elaborate prank. But then again, ROG Ally, ROG’s first handheld gaming console, was also announced on April 1, 2023. So, what might’ve seemed like a joke at first could very well be legit.

So far, Microsoft and Xbox have made no official statements confirming or denying the device. But the internet sleuths and handheld hopefuls are already deep in speculation mode.
