WoW Classic’s HD Mode: Compare Prices to Enter the New Visual Experience

With the upcoming arrival of Rage of the Firelands on WoW Classic, Blizzard’s team is also offering a graphical upgrade to enhance the experience. That you cam experience already in the Public Test Realm.

WoW Classic Visually Upgrades with Rage of the Firelands

With the update Rage of the Firelands on WoW, Blizzard’s team also plans to implement a feature already announced in September: the HD Mode. This mode allows for high-definition textures in WoW Classic.

A new setting option that allows players to enjoy crisper textures without losing the classic feel of World of Warcraft. It’s focused solely on textures, not models, but it’s a great option nonetheless, especially for those playing at higher resolutions like 1440p or 4K.

WoW: How to Try HD Mode Early on PTR

The new HD texture option for WoW Classic is already available on World of Warcraft Classic’s PTR (Public Test Realm). This test allows players to try Rage of the Firelands early but only until 18th October 2024. Joining the PTR is simple:

Create a PTR Account

  • Go to your Account Settings
  • Select Games & Subscriptions
  • In the Intro Edition & Public Test Regions section, select Create a PTR Account and confirm.

Join the PTR Servers

  • Open the Blizzard Battle.net App and select World of Warcraft from your Game List.
  • In the dropdown above the Play button, change your Region/Account to Public Test Realm.
  • Click Install to download the PTR client and start the game once it’s ready.
  • You’ll need to create a test character or copy one from your active account.
  • Once you’ve selected a character, you can test the new content early.

WoW Classic – Dates and New HD Content Coming Soon

The HD mode is certainly a nice bonus for WoW Classic’s experience, an experience that gets a fresh update with two new releases. Rage of the Firelands on 30th October 2024 and the Firelands Raid on 7th November 2024. A fire-themed update bringing precious loot and new challenges, including:

  • Elemental Bonds Quests: Various challenges and rewards like the Elemental Rune: Protocol Inferno.
  • Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest: Legendary magic staff, now easier to obtain with 10-25 player raids.
  • Firelands Raid: Launching on 7th November, this new raid challenges players in Sulfuron Keep, with six unique bosses and an even more powerful Ragnaros.
