Valorant Console Version Releases on PS and Xbox

Quick succession of events for Valorant from closed beta to open beta to now officially out for both Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This much awaited development has since been in the mind of most console players since the game’s launch four years ago.

No one expected that just after a week from opening the beta to all players that it would make a run for the full console release. This surprise is of course a well-received news and a great way to start the month.

Valorant console version will retain its free-to-play access and the in-game microtransactions. The game’s premium currency, Valorant Points, are still purchased with real money and can be used to unlock skins, other in-game content, and Battle Passes.




Difference between Valorant PC and Console Version

There’s really no significant change from PC to console version. Both will feature the same Agents, weapons, and abilities. Both will also have access to future ones at the same time. Basically this newly released version just had some minor adjustments for console play.

Valorant Cross-Platform and Cross-Progression Details

It is confirmed that Valorant will have cross-progression across all platforms considering that the same account is used. So all the XPs or skins you get from one version can be enjoyed in other platforms as well.

As for cross-play, both console versions support this but not with PC. Meaning Playstation and Xbox players can queue and play together, while PC players will only be able to play with other PC users. It was said that this decision ultimately boils down to ensuring an even playing field as mouse-keyboard and controller plays have unique advantages and disadvantages.

Xbox Game Pass Perks for Valorant

Valorant console version does not need a separate subscription for online play. But because of Riot’s partnership with Microsoft, Xbox Game Pass was able to bag some extra perks for its subscribers.

Game Pass members not only have access to all current Agents in Valorant but also secured access to all future ones. On top of that, a 20% XP boost in progression, and a 10% discount on VP purchases. These are applicable to subscribers of PC Game Pass, the regular Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate.
