Under Defeat Comeback Announced – Legendary Shoot’em Up Lands on December 5!

The Clear River Games team has finally announced the release date for the comeback of Under Defeat, an iconic Shoot’Em Up developed by G.Rev.

Under Defeat is a classic Arcade Shoot’Em Up first released in 2005 and later arrived on the Dreamcast in the following year. Under Defeat puts players in the roles of Wilhelmine Muller and Adele Friedrich, two assault helicopter pilots in an alternate World War II setting, fighting against the forces of the Union.

Offering a classic Shoot’em Up feel with then-modern visuals, it won over many fans. The HD version arrived on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. Used as the base for the Arcade version in Japan. Thanks to Clear River Games, this classic is soon arriving in a remastered version with many new features!


Under Defeat – Announced Release Date and Confirmed Platforms

The Enhanced Version of Under Defeat was initially announced back in April 2024 as a Japan-exclusive version. However, Clear River Games confirmed in June that it will be released globally. On 5 November  2024, Under Defeat was confirmed for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox.

A Steam version will follow at a later date. This new version of Under Defeat includes several improvements and brings content that was previously exclusive to the Japanese Arcade version. It’s a must-play for genre fans, especially with G.Rev’s involvement in the project.

Under Defeat – New Features in This Enhanced Version

The Clear River Games team brings exciting updates to Under Defeat, developed under the supervision of G.Rev. Here are some of the new features:

  • Improved Graphics: An HD version of the game’s 3D graphics, retaining the original feel.
  • 3 Game Modes: The classic Arcade mode in 4:3, New Order Mode optimized for modern 16:9 screens, and New Order Mode+ with numerous new additions.
  • Soundtrack: The original OST plus 3 new tracks and music from the original composer, Shinji Hosoe.
  • Additional Features: 2-player co-op, Practice Mode, previously Japanese-exclusive DLC, and new features.

A remastered classic Shoot’em Up not to be missed, crafted by genre veterans. It’s a great comeback for Under Defeat, releasing on  5 December 2024 on PS4, PS5, and Xbox, both digitally and physically. The Steam version will follow soon.
