In the Styx Shards of Darkness Co-op mode, you will be able to invite a friend to join you at any point during the game. You and your friend can take on missions together, while planning how you will sneak through enemies. This game mode opens up more opportunities in order to clear an objective, but do take note that it also doubles the risks. You and your friend must plan everything carefully in order to avoid being spotted.
As the game mode is a drop-in/drop-out game mode, it means that you can invite a friend to join you at any time you prefer. The whole game is basically playable in co-op.
