Supermassive Games Reportedly Cancels PS6 Blade Runner Game

An unannounced Blade Runner game, reportedly being developed by Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games for the next Xbox console and PS6, has been canceled.

Speaking about the game in a recent video, Insider Gaming claims the single-player action game was due out in 2027 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and the next generation of consoles.

What Was The Blade Runner Game?

Reportedly titled “Blade Runner: Time to Live,” the game was a “character focused, cinematic, action adventure” slated for a 2027 release on the current and next PlayStation and Xbox consoles and PC.

While nothing is coming Supermassive Games, Insider Gaming claims the campaign would be around 10-12 hours and focus on “the philosophical themes of Blade Runner with kinetic action-adventure gameplay.”

Why Was It Canceled?

Unfortunately, the game was canceled by Alcon Entertainment, the owner of the Blade Runner IP, although there’s no other information as to why it was axed.

According to insiders, Blade Runner: Time to Live began pre-production only last year in September 2024, with the game’s first prototype due this coming September. A development budget is believed to have been set at around $45m.

What’s Next for Supermassive?

Supermassive Games is working on its next Dark Pictures Anthology title, Directive 8020. Set in space, the interactive survival horror is due on October 2, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

While the Blade Runner Supermassive project is canceled, the developer is pressing on with its other titles.  As for Blade Runner, hopefully, we will see it reborn with another studio.
