Steam is a very popular platform for PC gamers, and on January 2, it had a 27,942,458 concurrent user count, a new record.

VALVE BREAKS CONCURRENT PLAYER RECORD ON STEAM
Valve begins 2022 with a bang by recording its highest concurrent player count on Steam.
Like other platforms such as Netflix, Twitch, and YouTube, Valve and Steam have recorded record users since WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic in March 2020.
The recent peak Steam user count may not come as a surprise as it happened during the Steam Winter Sale 2021, which has seen many new video games bought at discount prices as people continue to self-isolate.
That being said, free games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, DOTA 2, and Apex Legends continue to dominate the Steam current player charts.
