Stalker 2’s Latest Delay: What to Expect and How to Stay Updated

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has unfortunately been delayed once again, with an official announcement from developer GSC Game World. Certainly disappointing news for many who saw the release date pushed back by two months, but it’s not all bad news. Infact GSC has also released additional information to reassure fans about Stalker 2, and a new gameplay showcase.


Stalker 2 – The Delay Announcement and New Release Date

The delay announcement came on 25th July 2024, with a team fully aware of the implications. The release date has been pushed back by two months, from the anticipated 5 September to now on 20 November 2024. GSC Game World emphasizes that the extra two and a half months will mainly be used to resolve some bugs to deliver the best possible S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 experience. Not only did they announce that more news about the game will be coming soon, but they also joked about the new date with a short in-game video.


Stalker 2 – The Devs Speak in the New Chornobyl Deep Dive Video

To make up for the delay, GSC decided to release a new video on 12th August 2024, featuring the development team’s feedback and vision. This comprehensive video showcases the team’s ideas about the world of Stalker, as well as many new clips never before shown. It includes a gameplay showcase of the mission “Ad astra per aspera,” where the protagonist Skif arrives in the swamp area, one of the stops on the way to the Clear Sky base. Over 20 minutes of gameplay were shown, including open-world exploration, combat phases, lore, and plenty of tension. With more news to come in the coming days.


Stalker 2 Will Be Showcased at Gamescom 2024 ONL

But that’s not all, as we know that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will also be present at Gamescom 2024. Not only will the next chapter of the Stalker saga be part of the Xbox lineup during the Opening Night Live on 20 August, but there’s also a surprise for those attending the event live. The lucky participants will have the chance to get their hands on a demo in the public area of the event. A disappointing delay, hoping it will be the last, but it gives plenty of opportunity to catch up on the previous chapters during this summer holidays and rediscover what made the Stalker series so popular.
