Space Marine 3: Saber Interactive Commits to Ongoing Support for Space Marine 2
Despite confirming Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber Interactive has reassured fans that support for Space Marine 2 will continue throughout the sequel’s development. Patch 7.0 will launch for Space Marine 2 in mid-April, offering new DLC content, a new map, new PvP content, and general balance changes.
Saber Interactive recently confirmed Space Marine 3, but the developer has revealed its plans to continue supporting Space Marine 2 with fresh content despite development beginning on the sequel.
In April, Space Marine 2 will get Patch 7.0, which adds the long-awaited Space Wolves Chapter Pack, Imperial Fists Champion Pack, and the new Exfiltration PvE map. Patch 7 will also include balance changes, quality-of-life improvements, PvP changes, and tweaks to Absolute difficulty.
Saber Interactive’s Commitment to Space Marine 2
After Saber announced Space Marine 3, fans became concerned about the developer’s commitment to Space Marine 2, with the third-person shooter only releasing in September 2004. But, in a new post on Steam, Saber told fans that “Space Marine 3 does not mean the end of Space Marine 2’s development.”
Expressing its ongoing commitment, Saber told fans the team is “working on much more content and surprises for the months to come, such as a new class, more operations, melee weapons, and more!” And told fans it can “trust” them.
What’s Next for Space Marine 2 Players
April is a massive month for Space Marine 2 and players, with Patch 7 expected in mid-April, separate from the upcoming Horde game mode.
Available to play on the PTS, Patch 7 introduces the Space Wolves Chapter Pack, Imperial Fists Champion Pack, and the new Exfiltration PvE map, which features the giant Tyranid Trygon creature. The Patch will include PvP changes, such as 6v6 lobbies, weapon perk reworks, and new armor colors.
Looking Ahead to Space Marine 3
Other than an announcement, there is no additional information about the upcoming Space Marine 3, with the game promising more action, larger battles, and new enemies.
With the game several years away from release, Saber’s re-commitment to Space Marine 2 could give players two or three years’ worth of additional content.
