SNK Launches KOF Studio: New Studio Specializing in Fighting Games

The news officially comes from SNK with the 30th Anniversary of King of Fighters, announcing the new KOF Studio, dedicated to SNK’s fighting games.

SNK is one of the industry’s veteran studios responsible for classics like Metal Slug, King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, and many more. The past few years have seen SNK make a comeback with some new games after decades of absence.

With recent internal changes, SNK seems ready to actively return, creating the new KOF Studio. The announcement coincides with the 30th Anniversary of the iconic King of Fighters series.

KOF Studio: SNK’s Official Announcement About the New Team

The news was officially announced on SNK’s website on 29th December 2024. During the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the King of Fighters series, with a new page dedicated to KOF Studio. The goal is to bring many of SNK’s classic series back to the modern stage.

The announcement was also shared via social channels like Twitter (X), with a profile created in August 2024, likely aligning with the team’s restructuring period. An ambitious move by SNK but warmly welcomed by fans, who will soon get their hands on the new Fatal Fury City of the Wolves in April 2025.

SNK and KOF Studio: What We Know So Far

The new KOF Studio is essentially a restructuring of the team who already worked on recent SNK titles. Such as The King of Fighters XIV and XV and the spinoff SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy. This restructuring creates a team entirely dedicated to fighting games, reflecting SNK’s evolving situation.

SNK has faced a significant crisis but now seems ambitious under new leadership. With the new Fatal Fury City of the Wolves arriving in 2025 after over 25 years of absence. And a new Samurai Shodown (Samurai Spirits) as an Action RPG still in the concept phase. This new direction could finally put SNK back among the major returns of 2025.
