The developers promise a mix of classic platformer gameplay with action-packed combat and the nostalgic humor of the anime. The three main characters from the anime will, of course, all appear in the game:

  • Speedy Cerviche – The daring leader with incredible sword skills.

In addition, many familiar side characters from the anime will make an appearance, including Big Cheese, Francine, the ninja crow Bad Bird, and the well-known mayor of Little Tokyo.

Gameplay: Classic 2D Action Meets RPG Elements

The core of Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past! is the combination of classic 2D action and modern RPG mechanics. You can switch between the three Samurai Pizza Cats to take advantage of their unique abilities. Speedy can unleash lightning-fast attacks, Polly can stun enemies, and Guido specializes in powerful ranged attacks.



The game features dynamic combat with smooth animations, fast-paced attacks, and combos reminiscent of games like Shovel Knight or Mega Man X. You’ll also be able to collect special cards that grant bonuses like increased speed or new attacks. Plus, you’ll need to solve puzzles, some of which can only be completed using specific characters.

The developers have also confirmed that the game will closely follow the anime. That means many locations from the show will appear in the game exactly as fans remember them—a real treat for longtime fans of the series.
