Robert the Bruce leads Scotland’s Charge into Civilization 6 Rise and Fall

Robert the Bruce will be leading Scotland and its tartan army in the upcoming expansion, Civilization 6 Rise and Fall. The announcement was made on the game’s official website, debuting a “first look” trailer for the Scottish warrior and his empire.

As one of the most famous warriors of his generation, Robert led Scotland in the First War of Scottish Independence against England, reestablishing the country’s independence. He is revered today in Scotland as a national hero.

In Rise and Fall, Robert’s unique leader ability is ‘Bannockburn’, named after the historic battle for independence. Once the ‘Defensive Tactic’ civic has been researched, Robert can declare a ‘War of Liberation’ where unit movement and city production are boosted for the first turns of the war.

The civilization’s unique ability, ‘Scottish Enlightenment’, causes happy and ecstatic cities a boost in both science and production. Each ‘Campus’ and ‘Industrial Zone’ also add to ‘Great Scientist’ and ‘Great Engineer’ points respectively.

The ‘Highlander’, Scotland’s unique unit, replaces the ‘Ranger’ and gains bonus strength when fighting on hills or in forests. The ‘Golf Course’, the civ’s unique improvement, provides an amenity and gold. It also provides culture when next to a ‘City Center’ and even more culture when next to an ‘Entertainment District’.

You’ll get to lead Scotland into greatness once Civilization 6 Rise and Fall launches on 8 February for PC.
