The Brace Yourself Games team is back with their new Rift of the NecroDancer, the return of the series with a rhythmic game!

Rift of the NecroDancer is the third game in the series created by the team at Brace Yourself Games. A new chapter in the NecroDancer series, this time offering a more classic rhythmic game.

But that doesn’t mean it’s without novelties, especially the charisma that the series is known for. Offering various game modes where music and rhythm play a key role. With multiplayer modes and leaderboards.

Rift of the NecroDancer: Release Date

The team at Brace Yourself Games is finally ready to launch their new Rift of the NecroDancer. Published in collaboration with Klei Publishing, it will finally be available starting from February 5th, 2025.

With a rhythm game available on PC and later arriving on Nintendo Switch. The release on PlayStation and Xbox consoles has not yet been confirmed. With Rift offering a musical adventure in the new world of Cadence!

Rift of the NecroDancer: Gameplay and Key Features

Rift is presented as a more classic Rhythm Game compared to the previous two games in the series. They mixed roguelike gameplay with rhythm. Rift takes us into the new world of Cadence, where we’ll have to learn all the tricks to defeat monsters with music. It offers:

• Songs: Over 30 tracks created in collaboration with numerous composers, with more songs coming
• Difficulty: 4 difficulty levels: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Impossible
• Leaderboard: Global leaderboards to challenge friends and players worldwide
• Map Creation: Create your own Beatmaps using the same tools as the developers
• Modes: A main campaign mode, a Remix Mode with a different beatmap while keeping the original rhythm, and 5 rhythm-themed minigames

Rift of the NecroDancer: The Story of the Series

Rift is the third chapter in the Necrodancer series by Brace Yourself Games. A Canadian indie team that introduced the first game, Crypt of the NecroDancer, in 2015. A roguelike with a strong rhythmic component. Followed by Cadence of Hyrule in 2019, an interesting crossover with the famous Zelda IP.

Rift is presented as a standalone experience with classic rhythm game gameplay. But it doesn’t ignore the other aspects of the series, such as the fantasy world filled with monsters and powerful opponents to defeat. Rift was officially announced on August 24th, 2022, and is finally ready for release on PC today!

In Conclusion

Rift of the NecroDancer is certainly an interesting choice for the series, moving more towards the direction of a classic rhythm game. But seen as a standalone experience, many fans will find it enjoyable, especially with numerous new tracks and collaborations coming.

With the release of Rift today, February 5th, 2025 on PC, and the Switch version coming soon. Additionally, interested players can try the demo available on Steam!
