SHOULD I BUY REDFALL?
Redfall is an open-world co-op shooter from Arkane, the developer behind Dishonored and Prey, and it was released earlier this week to some pretty negative reviews.
Since its release, Redfall has been criticized for its performance issues after many users report frame drops, crashes, and low-quality graphics, even with an NVIDIA 40-series graphics card on PC.
It’s not just performance issues that people are having problems with, but also the lack of content, empty world, and poor AI.
On Steam, Redfall currently sits on “Mostly Negative” as of writing, with 1,172 negative reviews and only 457 positive reviews.
The criticism isn’t just confined to PC, with Redfall limited to just 30 FPS on Xbox Series X|S, with a 60 FPS performance mode to be added at a later date.
Unfortunately, Redfall’s co-op mode is also having issues, as players report a broken mess in which they can’t join up with friends or even get it to work.
It’s important to note that for co-op to work, each player needs to have played Redfall solo and have reached a certain point in the game’s story, and only then can you play together.
Oh, but joining a player’s lobby will not continue your progress, meaning you must complete the game yourself as host if you want to record progression.
All-in-all, Redfall is not having a great time since its launch, with it being labeled as a bland looter-shooter that doesn’t reach the heights of games like Left 4 Dead, which it is desperately trying to be.
Is it worth buying? There’s no doubt Arkane will fix the issues, and the game will be fun to play with friends, but for a full $70 price, no, it isn’t worth buying. Instead, buy it at a discount on Allkeyshop, and you will probably find it a fun game.
