Ready or Not: Publisher Team17 Pulls Out Due to School Shooter Level
Ready or Not developer VOID Interactive confirms split with publisher Team17, with many believing it to be because of creative differences.

WHAT IS READY OR NOT?
Ready or Not is an intense, realistic first-person shooter about SWAT police teams tasked with neutralizing hostile threats.
The game employs realistic weapon handling, player maneuvering, and ballistics to create tight and polished systems that test a player’s tactics, decision-making, and situation awareness.
In Early Access, Ready or Not is currently rated as Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam and features single-player and multiplayer game modes.
There are more than 60 unique items available in-game, with weapon optics, muzzle modifications, and grip variations.
It’s a very immersive experience, and to ensure accuracy, VOID Interactive has worked closely with police teams from across the globe.
WHY DID TEAM17 SPLIT WITH VOID INTERACTIVE?
There has been no official word from Team17 or VOID Interactive as to why they decided to separate.
Still, rumors suggest it’s due to a Reddit response in which a member of the VOID team replied to a question regarding the inclusion of a school shooting level.
When asked, the VOID member of staff replied with, “you better believe it’s gonna.”
Afterward, news started circulating that Team17 had decided to pull out as the publisher of Ready or Not, with confirmation later coming from both Team17 and VOID Interactive.
In their statement on Twitter, VOID indicated that they do plan to include a school level in the future and that they plan to “deliver high quality, impactful content that other mainstream software developers may shy away from due to cultural conventions and norms.”
Aiming for authenticity and realism, VOID Interactive believes that including a school level will be done with care and will not “trivialize” the experiences of those directly impacted by school shooting events.
Adding to the statement, they also say that they do not plan to glorify cowardly criminal acts but that the focus is to highlight the hard work of “dedicated law enforcement officers across the world.”
