Palworld is the biggest game on the planet right now and Steam’s second most-played game ever, but has not been without controversy since its release on January 19. Now PETA has responded to clamor from fans claiming the game glorifies animal cruelty.
Creature collecting and battling games like Palworld and Pokémon have always been a topic of discussion on whether they portray animal cruelty, with many pointing to the forceful capture, training, and fighting of creatures for pleasure, money, and fame.
Now, to add to it all, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has weighed in on the discussion of the game portraying animal abuse.
How Did PETA Respond to Palworld Animal Abuse?
Insider Gaming reached out to PETA to ask where the organization stands on Palworld. Elisa Allen, VP of Programmes at PETA told Insider Gaming, “PETA has already heard from many Palworld fans who have no interest in eating ‘Pals’ and want a vegan guide created for the game… It’s ‘Veganuary’ after all, and gamers want to help animals by eating vegan in their game worlds and outside.”
let’s not forget either than you can also capture humans in Palworld, which brings up even more questions. But in spite of all the criticism, the apparent death threats to the devs, and claims of the game glorifying slavery, cannibalism, and animal abuse, Palword continues to break records.
It’s hard to see at the moment where the game slows down, particularly with it in the news daily, trending on social media, and sitting at the top of the Steam most-played and top-selling charts.
