The Nintendo Switch 2 has officially been revealed. Nintendo’s upcoming console has an official trailer, with the company promising to give a release date in April. The long-awaited Switch 2 will bring exciting new features and upgrades to gamers worldwide.

After months of speculation and rumors, Nintendo has officially revealed the Nintendo Switch 2. The console’s official trailer revealed a new design and magnetic Joy-Con controllers.

While we don’t have all the details we wanted, we know the Switch 2 is larger than its predecessor, will launch in 2025, and a new Mario Kart game is coming to it, showcased within the trailer. Excited fans have another date to mark on their calendars, as Nintendo will reveal more, including a release date, at the upcoming Nintendo Direct on April 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 Key Features

The Nintendo Switch 2 is a hybrid console, playable with its dock or in portable mode. Nintendo previously announced it would be backward compatible with original physical and digital Switch games. As leaked a few weeks ago, the Joy-Cons also connect to the Switch 2 magnetically.

As shown in the trailer, the Switch 2 appears to feature a U-shaped kickstand when in portable mode, and it does seem to show the Joy-Con controllers working as a mouse. We also know it has a larger screen, but hardware specifics from Nintendo are light, with more to come on April 2 at a Nintendo Switch 2-focused Direct.

Release Date and Launch Titles

Nintendo has revealed the Switch 2 will release in 2025. We don’t know the exact date, but we’ll know after the Nintendo Direct on April 2.

As for launch titles, the console’s reveal trailer showed a new Mario Kart game on its screen, but  Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is coming, and we may see The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Enhanced Edition and don’t forget Doom: The Dark Ages.
