Nintendo Switch 2 preorder goes live on April 9. Unfortunately, not for US buyers anymore, Nintendo announces.

Gamers across the U.S. had April 9 circled on their calendars, ready to secure their Nintendo Switch 2 preorder the moment it went live. Anticipation has been building for months, with Nintendo finally confirming the console’s June launch and an exciting Mario Kart bundle to boot. However, an unexpected update from GameSpot has thrown a wrench into those plans. U.S. preorders have now been delayed.

Nintendo Switch 2 Preorder Delayed In US

While the rest of the world will still be able to preorder the Nintendo Switch 2 on April 9, gamers in the United States will unfortunately have to wait a bit longer. According to GameSpot, Nintendo has delayed the U.S. preorder launch in order to reassess pricing due to President Trump’s tariffs.

No new U.S. preorder date has been set, but with the console’s June 5 release date still confirmed, fans can expect an update soon. Nintendo initially announced the Switch 2 at a price of $449.99, with a Mario Kart World Bundle available for $499.99. However, given the potential tariff implications, those prices could rise by the time U.S. preorders eventually open.
