Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator of Yakuza games, has established his own studio which he named Nagoshi Studio. It’s based in Ebisu, Tokyo, with reports saying it was opened in November 1, 2021.
Nagoshi is the studio’s president, and he’s joined by Daisuke Sato (producer), Taichi Ushioda (director), Kazuki Hosokawa (artist), Naoki Someya (artist), Toshihiro Ando (artist), Koji Tokieda (programmer), Masao Shirosaki (game designer), and Mitsunori Fujimoto (engineer).

In his announcement, Nagoshi said his studio’s goal is not only to produce high-end games for consoles worldwide, he also wants his staff to work in an open environment. He said that he believes that creating high-quality games starts with a healthy work environment where developers can talk frankly regardless of rank. He also said making mistakes is fine, but it is also equally important to correct them honestly and then turn these mistakes into assets.
Nagoshi Studio has not revealed what their plans are for the near-future.
