Minecraft 1.20.71 Update Bug

The recent Minecraft update has rocked the Minecraft world to its core. Many displeased long-time players of the game have reported and are now frustrated by the recent turn of events.

A lot of gamers shared that as soon as they updated, the game automatically uninstalled. And upon checking back, there were no crash logs but there were also no more worlds. And it doesn’t end there unfortunately.

As servers have updated to Minecraft 1.20.71, access to multiplayer and realms are no longer possible. The latter particularly received a substantial amount of outcry and feedback as gamers who paid for realms can no longer access them.

This issue affected PC gamers who updated the game through the Xbox App. Those who updated through Microsoft Store apparently did not encounter any problem.

To be on the safe side, play the game for now in the other platforms it is available on.

Minecraft 1.20.71 Bug Fix

This whole fiasco started on March 12 and after 4 days, Mojang has temporarily blocked the update from Windows.





Although it initially said that some online services may not be available for those who did not update the game, it has come to light now that a lot of people who did not update actually can’t play Minecraft Bedrock Edition at all.

Fast forward to today, the issue remains unsolved. On both Minecraft Bug tracking pages on Mojang’s site (MCPE-179688 and MCPE-174716), the update is still blocked for Windows.

There are some links that were shared as a workaround for this issue but those have since been deleted and disallowed. Mojang has expressly said that sharing of those links are no longer allowed and future posting of them will automatically be deleted and users can be blocked.

The only thing suggested for now is to use the Gaming Services Repair Tool to update to Gaming Services version 19.87.13001.0 which will avoid the update error. This information is official and verified as per Mojang’s Bugs tracking site.

Or, the simplest one is to play the game on a different platform. But then again, how can you possibly play it when the worlds you’ve worked so hard for a really long time may disappear for good.
