Is Apex Legends Getting a Monthly Subscription? EA’s Survey Sparks Speculation

EA is gauging whether Apex Legends fans are willing to pay monthly subscription for some freebies and rewards. Question is, how much?

With the rise and success of subscription services, EA is looking into implementing it in one of the most popular and highly recognized online multiplayer games there is, Apex Legends.

In a recent move by EA, the gaming company has made its intentions known to fans of Apex Legends that it is considering posing a subscription fee on the game. This was suggested by sending a survey to select players asking if they will be interested in paying for a monthly fee.

First reported by Insider Gaming, who happens to receive the survey as well, this subscription aims to grant rewards like in-game currency, free in-game content, and even Battle Pass tiers to members. The idea is basically the same with Fornite Crew which gives exclusive cosmetics, currency, and passes to subscribers.

Similar thing can be said for Overwatch 2 and Genshin Impact’s integration to Xbox Game Pass too. The difference with this one though is that you get the rewards (among other content) for having the subscription, rather than to get rewards, you need to have a subscription. So game-based subscription, instead of service-based subscription.



This news, however, didn’t come too much of a surprise since the company failed to meet its monetization goals last year. And since Apex Legends has a solid fanbase, monetizing it more could help with the said goals.

The Fortnite Crew is available at £9.99 / $€11.99 / $11.99, and some reports suggest that it will be the same for when the Apex Legends subscription comes out. As of now though, no official confirmation was issued by EA. But it does seem to be just a matter of time.
