Cloud Streaming isn’t new to Playstation but it is with the PS Portal. Previously, this handheld relied on a connected PS5 to stream. Basically, it couldn’t stream games directly from the cloud; instead, your PS5 had to be turned on to remotely play your games via the Portal. But that’s about to change starting today with the release of the latest system update.

This update includes the beta version of the cloud streaming support for PS Portal, available to all PS Plus Premium members. After updating to the newest software, you just need to enable the feature in the Setting menu. In order to establish a cloud streaming session, a minimum of 5Mbps upload and download speeds are required. And to stream at 720p and 1080p, you will need 7 and 13mbps respectively.

Since this is only in beta status, the full functionality might still change once it is fully launched. Some of the features not included in beta are Game Trials, Party voice chat, Create button, 3D audio, game invite, in-game commerce, and streaming of games bought in the PS store.

Only a limited amount of games are accessible via this Cloud beta Dave the Diver, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Monster Hunter Rise, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. These are all PS5 versions as there is no current support for PS4 and Ps3 games.

While the main feature is the Cloud streaming, this software update also includes refinements in the audio experience like a lower minimum volume setting for the speaker output. Additionally, users can now fine-tune their PlayStation Link device settings directly from the PS Portal menu, optimizing both volume and sidetone levels for a personalized audio experience.
