Hogwarts Legacy Leaks Reveal Major Details and Possible Release Date
A new leak on Hogwarts Legacy has revealed major details on its gameplay and more, plus it looks like it really is going to be released this year.

Hogwarts Legacy was announced back in 2020, and it is a major game for Harry Potter fans. Warner Media has been silent about the game for some time now, but thanks to the internet, we got wind of some rumors about the game.
Leaks for the past week have emerged, revealing the game’s probable release date as well as some huge details on its gameplay.
When is Hogwarts Legacy’s Release?
The Rowling Library, a website dedicated to the life and works of J.K. Rowling, has possibly revealed Hogwarts Legacy’s release date. In a post that was published dated February 4, 2022, the website announced that “The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy” will be published by Insight Editions, with a publication date of September 6, 2022. It looks like they got this information on Google Books.
“The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy” is a companion book to the game, and according to them, the date mentioned could possibly be the game’s release date, but is not confirmed.
In the same post, the website added an update on February 9th, saying that the book is also listed in Amazon. The listing has a title of “Untitled Video Game Art Book,” but if you look at the ISBN, it is the same one that’s posted on Google Books. This one on Amazon, though, shows that the book’s publication date is December 6, 2022.
“This is normal in the publication world, where releases [sic] dates are not set in stone and can change, especially if we are months away from it. It is not possible to know, right now, which one will be the final release of the date book until it is confirmed by the publisher,” their update reads.
If any of these dates were real, it means the game is on track to be released this year, but of course nothing is set in stone until an official announcement is released.
Is Hogwarts Legacy an Open-World Game?
A YouTuber named RetroRaconteur spilled major details about the game in the video above. We’ve listed them for you:
- The game’s developers took inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us Part 2 for its design.
- There’s major emphasis on exploration, and it’s paired with a huge open-world that has multiple regions. It also has towns with NPCs that each have unique behaviors and dialogue.
- There’s a dungeon, too. An entire team is actually dedicated to designing this dungeon, so it seems like it will play a huge role in the game.
- Like in Far Cry games, players will be clearing out enemy camps, and will also be a major component of the game.
- It will have a day and night cycle.
- The game will include something like a relationship system that will have storylines.
These are all just rumors, but RetroRaconteur claims these information are reliable. He said he got it from multiple sources that have told him “some (not all) the exact same details,” and there’s also photo evidence of these claims that he believes are reliable, although it’s unfortunate that he won’t be able to share them.
Nevertheless, Hogwarts Legacy is a highly-anticipated game, and we’ll definitely share more concrete details when we get them.
We can’t wait to get our hands on this game when it launches for PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.
