343 Industries released a small teaser during the Halo World Championship 2024. A Work in Progress showing a third-person mode coming to Halo Infinite in November 2024.

Halo Infinite – An Official Third-Person Mode

The news comes from Halo’s official channels, specifically the dedicated Twitter (X) account. A teaser released during the Halo World Championship 2024, held from 4 to 6 October. A teaser showing a Work in Progress of the third-person mode coming to Halo Infinite in November.

Certainly nothing new, considering that Halo Infinite received a community mod in April 2022. But now it brings the third-person option as an official mode in multiplayer. Offering not only a breath of fresh air to the gameplay, but also an option for those who prefer third-person over first-person perspective.

Meanwhile, starting 8th October 2024, the new Operation Haloween arrives in Halo Infinite. An operation that adds the Survive the Undead mode, a zombie-themed mode across 3 themed maps. Also, themed rewards and skins to unlock or purchase.

Effectively a real Zombie mode that somewhat recalls the classic Call of Duty mode. Not surprising, considering one of the 3 maps, Night of the Undead, is in fact inspired by CoD’s classic Nacht Der Untoten. Operation: Haloween ends on November 5, followed by the third-person update.

Halo Revamps with Unreal Engine 5 – Save Today on Halo Infinite

But the Halo-themed news doesn’t stop there. Following recent changes within 343 Industries, the newly formed team will be renamed as Halo Studios. Also, a big announcement is the adoption of Unreal Engine 5, moving away from the proprietary Slipspace Engine. With Project Foundry as a showcase of what UE5 is able to bring for Halo.

The adoption of the famous UE5 is significant news. Future Halo games will be able to rely on the latest engine technologies, such as Lumen and Nanite, for high graphical fidelity. Additionally, UE5 will simplify development and porting, with some even seeing the chance of Master Chief arriving on Playstation.
