GTA V Enhanced Edition Now Live: Dive into the Ultimate Crime Adventure

Following the announcement in February, Rockstar’s team finally releases today the new version of GTA V, now renamed Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced!

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) is the legendary fifth installment of Rockstar’s famous series. The fifth chapter, released back in 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360, continues to perform strongly. Notably, we had a version for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S which brought some modern updates to the title.

And now, Rockstar’s team has finally decided to offer it for PC as well, with additions such as Ray Tracing, faster loading times, and new content. Now finally available on PC with some exciting new features.

Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced: Available Today!

With the February 20 announcement, Rockstar’s team brought the great news of new features coming to the PC version of GTA V. Features previously exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, which have now been further enhanced on PC. As early as February 28, 2025, it was possible to pre-load the free update.

With the official launch today, March 4th. Initially seen as a simple upgrade, Rockstar’s team later clarified that this is now a new version, named Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced, allowing players to import Story progress and Online progress from the Legacy version.

Existing players can pre-load the free GTAV PC upgrade now from the Rockstar Games Launcher or Steam.

You can also transfer your Story Mode progress to the new version, directly from the Pause Menu inside the current version of GTAV on PC.

GTA V: Legacy or Enhanced, What’s the Difference?

As we’ve already mentioned, the new Enhanced Edition of GTA V brings many software updates, including Ray Tracing, Upscaling, and DirectStorage. Plus, new vehicles and activities for GTA Online. With this new version, Rockstar will soon conclude support for the previous version, now known as Legacy, especially for Online.

While you can easily transfer your Story Mode progress, the transfer of Online progress will be irreversible. This means transferring Characters, GTA$, Vehicles, and more permanently to the new version. This will be the Online-supported version, thanks to the new features, while the original version will no longer be officially available for purchase.

This marks a major change in the world of GTA V and GTA Online. With the new Enhanced edition of GTA V effectively replacing the original version.
