GTA 6 release date unaffected by strike

Rockstar Games has reassured fans that the SAG-AFTRA game actors’ strike will not affect the development of GTA 6. Hopefully, the upcoming open-world RPG will release on time. Rockstar is aiming for a 2025 release date.

The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) has currently called a strike, resulting in thousands of game actors being banned from working for video games in development. The strike follows 18 months of negotiations, with the union unhappy that game actors are not protected AI use in video games. Members of SAG-AFTRA are concerned that actors can be exploited and not compensated fairly with their voices and likenesses being replicated using AI.

Fortunately, for GTA fans, the strike only affects newer games. Any game that began development prior to September 2023 is exempt from the SAG-AFTRA Strike. So, work on GTA 6 goes on without interruption.

GTA 6 continues its development as Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two look towards its Autumn 2025 release date. In fact, eagle-eyed fans spotted a possible release date for the GTA 6 Trailer 2. A recent Grand Theft Auto Online update shows an image of a pizza delivery driver and a license plate with “OCT” and “4” in it. Although a stretch, many think it’s a sign that the GTA 6 Trailer 2 will drop on October 4.
