Forza Horizon 5 (FH 5) is the fifth chapter of the Horizon series, a spin-off of the Forza racing games. A spin-off series developed by the British team at Playground Games as one of the great exclusives of the Microsoft ecosystem. With this entry taking us to the colorful and varied open world landscape of Mexico.

A game and series that has excited many. Celebrated as one of the best open world racing games of all time. With tons of cars, challenges, and exploration, both solo and especially with friends. With a varied multiplayer component, including competitive races and more casual modes for everyone.

The news arrived on January 30, 2025, with an official announcement on the Forza Horizon socials. An announcement that surprised the entire gaming market, confirming Forza Horizon 5’s arrival on PS5. FH5 will arrive in Spring 2025, ported by Panic Button in collaboration with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. It will feature the full content already released on PC and Xbox, and will receive regular updates. Plus, there’s the promise of cross-play across all platforms.

An announcement certainly unexpected. Marrking a significant step forward from Microsoft in bringing its Xbox game library to various platforms. The first steps were already made in 2024 with Grounded and Hi-Fi RUSH on other consoles. Phil Spencer, in a recent interview with Gamertag Radio, also shown a strong interest in the Nintendo Switch 2.

But the arrival of Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 marks an important milestone, with the latest chapter of the iconic series now available on Sony’s rival console. Microsoft’s strategy of “This is an Xbox” positions Xbox as a gaming brand, while even  Playstation is slowly abandoning exclusives, and at least for now bringing them to PC after a period of 6 months to 1 year from launch.
