Epic Games Reveals Store and Client Features Roadmap
There’s been a whole lot of complaining across the PC gaming community ever since Epic Games decided to open its own digital storefront for PC games and started snatching up exclusives one by one. While some gamers just don’t like the idea of having to use an additional launcher, others actually have concerns more directly related to the Epic Games Store and its client — they lack a lot of expected features.
It looks like Epic really wants to win gamers over as they have now released a 2019 roadmap of upcoming features and improvements for their platform. The roadmap lists some of the recently added features and breaks down upcoming ones according to their estimated time of delivery or implementation.
Here’s a preview of some of the more important features we found in the roadmap:
Near Term (1-3 Months)
- Search by Genre and Tag
- Improvements to Offline Mode
- Improved DLC Support – Multi SKU
- Cloud Saves
- Improved Patch Sizes
Mid Term (4-6 Months)
- User Reviews
- Wishlists
- Additional Payment Methods
- Additional Currencies
- Mod Support for Games
Long Term (>6 Months)
- Achievements
- Shopping Cart
You can check out the full roadmap Trello board here.
Epic also posted a disclaimer saying that what’s listed on the board are subject to change. Trello also warns visitors that the admins of the board can choose to hide it at any time.
It’s hard to imagine what Epic was thinking when they decided to launch their storefront with barely any features, but it does seem like the platform is bound to drastically improve over the course of the year if this roadmap is to be believed.
With the growing number of exclusives under its belt, this is good news for those of us who will most likely cave to the platform eventually once a game we’ve been anticipating for a long time suddenly joins the exclusivity train.
In case you’re not convinced, here are some of the titles that the Epic Games Store offers exclusively, including semi and timed exclusives:
