Project Impact is the name of the new project from Neon Giant. This Swedish indie team, formed in 2018 by industry veterans behind Far Cry 3, Gears of War, and the latest Wolfenstein and Doom, is best known for their debut title, The Ascent, released in 2021 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
It’s an isometric RPG shooter set in a cyberpunk world, taking us back to the futuristic city of The Ascent where we’ve got to defend our district from a catastrophic event. It’s a first‑person immersive cyberpunk adventure that kicked off in 2022 when Krafton acquired the team. They’re aiming for something super ambitious with a one‑of‑a‑kind story.

Project Impact – What We Know So Far
According to MP1st’s scoop, the devs are building an open‑world experience set in the futuristic city of Port Desire. It shares the cyberpunk aesthetic of The Ascent but aims for a more realistic world—true to the team’s pre‑Neon Giant roots.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, player actions are said to have a real impact on the story. It’s a super ambitious project, both stylistically and gameplay‑wise, promising something original that, as the team puts it, hasn’t been explored yet. Basically, it’s not a “Cyberpunk 2077 clone.”
