Speaking about the film, Hideo Kojima said that while he always intended for it to be only a game, “the Death Stranding movie is taking a direction that nobody has tried before with a movie adaptation of a game.” Whatever that means.

Announced in 2022, the Death Stranding movie will be written and directed by Sarnoski, with Kojima Productions and A24 co-producing. The film will serve as a prequel to the games, and we’re yet to hear about casting.
On its IMDb page, the film’s storyline says it will explore the “mysteries surrounding the apocalyptic event called the “Death Stranding,” which blurred the lines between life and death and brought forth nightmarish creatures into a world on the brink of collapse.”
Who Is Michael Sarnoski?
Sarnoski gained recognition for his breakout hit, Pig, which starred Nicolas Cage. He later directed A Quiet Place: Day One and is currently working on Death of Robin Hood, featuring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer in a darker reimagining of the English folklore.
For his work on Pig, Sarnoski won the National Board of Review Award for Best Directorial Debut and Best First Screenplay at the Independent Spirit Awards.
