Phoenix Labs have announced that Dauntless will shutdown on May 29. No content and updates will be released effective immediately.

Since its release in 2019, Dauntless has carved out a unique space in the gaming world. The free-to-play monster-hunting RPG, developed by Phoenix Labs, was often compared to Monster Hunter, yet it established its own dedicated player base with its accessible mechanics and cooperative gameplay. It had its highs and lows, but for many, Dauntless was an enjoyable experience.

However, the gaming industry has been undergoing some major shifts in recent years, with frequent cancellations, shutdowns, and mass layoffs affecting countless studios. Unfortunately, Dauntless has become the latest casualty of this growing trend.

Dauntless Shutdown Permanently on May 29
