Unexpected news comes from the Polish team at The Farm 51, announcing the arrival of Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone. A second installment in the series, offering a new adventure in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.

The Announcement of Chernobylite 2 – The Trailer and Release Date

The news comes directly from the official Twitter (X) page of Chernobylite, which in recent days hinted at “a very interesting week”. On 13th August 2024, the team announced they are working on Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone, along with a presentation trailer for the game. A trailer of just 1 minute, but it hides numerous interesting details. The release date is rather vague, expected in 2025.

Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone – Main Features

From the official game page on Steam and the announcement trailer, we have quite a bit of information about Chernobylite 2. This new chapter seems to shift more towards an open-world RPG experience compared to the open-world adventure of the first entry in 2021. Not only will we be able to create our own character in the new Chernobylite 2 and have the freedom to interact with various factions, but we will also be able to play missions in multiplayer with other players. Additionally, there will be a crafting system and base development, as well as various NPCs that we can customize as allies. Certainly a deep change compared to the first game.

Chernobylite 2 – The First Impressions of Fans on the Trailer

A rather debated point among fans of the first chapter is the team’s choice to use a mix between third-person and first-person views. According to what has been determined, it seems that Chernobylite 2 uses third-person for combat and first-person for exploration. A rather unique and debated choice, as well as a shift towards a more multiplayer focused open-world RPG experience than fans expected. The team has nonetheless reiterated that more information will be released in the coming weeks, especially regarding gameplay to have a clear picture. Thus, we can only wait and perhaps in the meanwhile catch up on the first beloved Chernobylite, available at a very affordable price.
