Castle Craft releases today, April 28, 2025, in Early Access on Steam. The game is developed by indie studio Twin Earth and published by Astra Logical. The Early Access period is planned to last about a year, with the developers aiming for strong community involvement.

Castle Craft is built using the Unreal Engine 4 along with a voxel plugin. It mixes traditional blocky visuals with finer meshes, making structures much more realistic and detailed.

Gameplay: Build, Defend, and Use Magic

The game features two different modes. First, there’s the wave defense mode, where you must defend your castle from hordes of enemies. To do this, you’ll need to build defenses, walls, and more — but more on that in a moment. The second mode is a creative mode, where you can peacefully build a castle without worrying about enemies or resource limits.

Let’s talk more about defending your castle. To protect your stronghold, you’ll have access to various traps and mechanics. To build traps and turrets, you’ll need resources — but luckily, you don’t have to mine every stone or chop every tree yourself. You can assign others to work for you. Your subjects will handle all the hard labor, but make sure you provide them with food — dead workers won’t help much. You can also train your villagers into fighters who will help defend your walls.

Defending your castle won’t be easy, as each new wave brings tougher enemies. It’s not just more enemies, either — later waves introduce siege engines capable of blasting your walls apart with precise shots. Your carefully built structures will crumble block by block — but the good news is, you can rebuild… if you survive.

When fighting yourself, you’ll be able to use unique magical abilities that can even alter the landscape. Plus, you can build your own siege weapons and turn them against your enemies. So don’t worry — the game isn’t unfair. Besides upgrading your fortress and army, you can also upgrade yourself and become the ultimate fighter.

Humor, Story, and Community Involvement

In Castle Craft, you’re not the king — you’re just the advisor to the eccentric and self-absorbed King Debimius. He’ll often remind you: “You work, I get the glory.” This playful humor is a core part of the game, bringing lightness to even the toughest challenges.

The developers also plan to continue improving the game during the Early Access phase. The community will play a big role, as the devs will listen to player feedback on their Discord server and other socials, shaping the game based on fan suggestions. With their help, Castle Craft could become one of the best siege games out there.
