CoD: Modern Warfare 3 was released on November 10 to poor player reviews for an underwhelming campaign and lack of innovation in its multiplayer. Despite the poor reception, its been a massive success and has broken player engagement records for the reboot series.
In a tweet, Call of Duty revealed MW3 has broken records that have seen more hours per player than MW and MW2.
It also revealed that Treyarch’s latest Zombies mode set a “new Modern Warfare record,” with more players putting in more game time than ever.
It may surprise many after the negativity the game has received since its release. On Steam alone, the game currently sits on “Mostly Negative” with just 26% positive reviews.
But MW3 has been a financial success and may continue a little longer as Season 1 will launch on December 6. The first season will add new maps and plenty more content.
