Mandragora is a metroidvania with souls-like elements, I played the demo some time ago and one game it reminded me of instantly was Grime, albeit the settings are completely different, many gameplay aspects are similar. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, the controls and combat were not the most tight or fluid but I'll wait for the release to give it a proper try.
Mandragora Whispers of the Witch is a metroidvania with many RPG elements that will appeal to the most skeptical, set in a dark fantasy world with very convincing art direction. In the demo, which I encourage you to try, everything is encouraging: enemies, sense of movement, fluidity, control reactions... As a big fan of the genre, I'm thinking of taking it from the first day.
The most noticeable aspect of Mandragora Whispers of the Witch Tree is how pretty the game looks, it is a 2.5D sidescroller but it has depth in the graphics that it almost looks 3D. And the pretty is accompanied with a solid combat gameplay, lots of locations, enemies with a souls like difficulty level, weapons and skills to master and a lantern that allows you to travel to the entropy world, very similar to latest Lords of the Fallen, and all reasons why I want to play this game so badly
Mandragora keeps looking better every time I see it. The dark fantasy vibe mixed with that hand-painted art style is just chef’s kiss. If the combat and RPG elements are as deep as they seem, this could be a real gem.
