Reviews
Dredge is a masterclass in the atmosphere, worldbuilding, tactile mechanics, and game flow. Like all good sinister stories, by the time you get to the end of the line, you might wish you had never kept going. But in Dredge, it’s impossible not to.
Dredge‘s ending, like the rest of the game, succeeds in marrying bewilderment and satisfaction. The title is, simply put, a must-play. Every element — atmospheric mystery, engaging moment-to-moment action, and brilliant storytelling earns it the top spot in my favorite games of the year so far.
This DLC contains a key to the mysterious workshop on Blackstone Isle, it contains otherworldly creations, products of cruel machinations by its previous owners.

No history yet.
We don't know anything about DREDGE's price history.
Dredge is an exploration game where you fish in your little boat. From common to rare fish, to unique boss-like creatures, the journey is not always smooth.
Fishing often involves repeated keystrokes with proper timing, akin to mini-games, with some variety. It’s well thought out and not too punishing. The atmosphere of the game is rather evolving, I won’t spoiler but know that we are on a totally Lovecraftian inspiration 😉 , The game is punctuated by the narration, and quests where we bring back relics to the village, from our successive fishing. This is the main thread of the story.
Accessible, well optimized, graphically very accomplished with an original artistic patte, Dredge has not neglected any aspect and thus constitutes a relatively complete videogame experience I find, whether you are used to throwing a hook in a river or not!
Dredge is a newly released and first title by Black Salt Games, under the indie/small dev publisher Team17. Set in the fictitious and mysterious islands of The Murrows as the captain of a boat, searching for a new life you’d be tasked to fish for the locals, but also recover relics and valuables lost in the sea.
An apparently chill and peaceful fishing adventure game, which in reality hides terrifying stories, as something sinister is cursing through the sea. Something that manifest itself during the night, as at first you are warned by the locals to not go out in sea after the daylight, but you’ll discover it soon what it is.
The Archipelago is a basically open world map, although you are initially to Greater Murrows which house the lighthouse, one of the few sources of light in the game, but by completing missions and helping revamping the city through transactions that will help building new facilities, thus accessing to new important upgrades not only we’ll be able to survive and navigate for longer and safer the sea, but also slowly access to new islands each with their own set of mission and upgrade waiting to be obtained.
While in the first few days we’ll focus mainly on the various tasks during the daylight, we’ll soon have to make important decisions for going out to sea during the night, as per certain mission requirement and tasks, dropped by conversation with the various npcs we’ll interact each time we dock the boat to sell our loot or complete the mission. During the night the sea is a dangerous place, where our sanity meter, represented by an eye which will redden and frantically look left and right as it fills up, will cause dreadful manifestation to hit us, by either stealing our loot or damaging our boat. But we need to take the risk sometimes, as precious loot and info await us at night.
Thus Dredge is a pretty interesting game, which combines a survival element to a fishing adventure game, but twist it with a lovecraftian’s psychological horror element. Resulting in an original idea, albeit letdown a bit by the presence of a strong grinding aspect on top of a rather simple and at times skimpy visuals, where most of the attention has gone to the sea but limited to that indie feel that Unity delivers. Combined with a tag price of 24,99€+ 4,99€ DLC, it’s kinda hard to recommend as is. Although for under 20€ for a fan of this kind of genre it could be an interesting pick, for the others I recommend waiting a bit more ( for it to be on sale at 15€ or less).
Dredge is an adventure fishing game with some inspiration in lovecraftian cosmic horror that relies heavily on exploration. We’ll have quests to complete, fish to catch which we sell to upgrade our boat and islands to explore, each with unique inhabitants and stories to discover. Upgrading the boat is a necessity to reach and survive the more dangerous and secluded areas of the game. I’m keeping my eye on this game and hope the story and puzzles are good because the rest already got me interested.
