Exciting news from EA about the next chapter in the Battlefield shooter series, with a Playtest already prepared.
Find out why EA is planning more Playtests for the next Battlefield!

Battlefield (BF) is the renowned shooter series from DICE, EA’s development studio. The first game, Battlefield 1942, was released in 2002 and quickly became a success thanks to its primarily multiplayer gameplay. The game’s strengths include large-scale battles, vehicle warfare, and different player classes with unlockable weapons and gear.
Another beloved feature is the dynamic map changes, with destructible structures adding realism. Despite its popularity, Battlefield 2042 was not well received due to a troubled launch and missing classic features. Although the game has somewhat recovered, fans hope EA will listen to the community.
The New Battlefield: Players Invited to First Playtests
Recently, it appears that DICE has reached out to certain BF players and community members, inviting them to the new Battlefield Playtest.
According to YouTuber DANNYonPC, one of the accepted content creators accidentally leaked this information on Twitter (X). The tweet was quickly deleted due to NDA restrictions. The invitation mentions a Playtest happening this week, though the game is not explicitly named. EA later indirectly confirmed it with a new tweet.
Next Battlefield: EA Confirms More News Coming Today
As mentioned, the Battlefield Twitter account later confirmed that official news about the next installment and Playtest details would be released soon.
In 2024, DICE and EA promised more Playtests and better community feedback integration to avoid another disaster like Battlefield 2042. The next updates will be revealed today, January 3, 2025, at 8:00 AM PDT (17:00 CET).

Final Thoughts
Great news for Battlefield fans, as we may finally get a reveal of the next game! Many hope that EA has learned from past mistakes and will listen to the fans.
There’s also hope that content creators and community members will get priority access to the Playtest before it opens up to regular players closer to launch. We’ll find out more today about what DICE and EA have planned.
