With the recent Battlefield Franchise Sale, EA has not only decided to put some interesting discounts on each entry of the franchise, but also equalize the prices between the Steam and EA App.
Among them one of the most interesting deal is on Battlefield 3 Premium Edition at 85% discount!
Battlefield 3 is over 10 years old, being launched in 2011 as the direct sequel to 2005’s Battlefield 2. What made this title particularly loved by the community was the huge maps, with a never seen before level of destruction in up to 32vs32 matches. All powered by a newly released Frostbite Engine, which was also impressive in its visuals. But destructions weren’t simply for “decorations”, in fact the high destructibility of buildings allowed to pull off tactical plans and allow covers for infantry units in maps with vehicles.
With lots of weapons, dynamic maps made each game different and unique.As well as a solid campaign that often features the multiplayer maps, as well as nice acting and overall story. The dedication to the game was so much that many private servers popped out right after launch, with a dedicated and active community that persists to this day.
The Premium Edition is now essentially the full package, with a Welcome Pack featuring 15 weapons,gadgets and vehicle upgrades right from the start, as opposed to unlocking them. And the 5 DLC maps in a single package, with Back to Karkand, Close Quarters, Armored Kill, Aftermath, End Game. For a grand total of 20 additional maps, 20 weapons, 10 vehicles, and 4 exclusive Game Modes.
It’s not often that EA equals the prices on the two platforms, thus this time it makes it quite tempting thanks to Steam’s various features. But an update last month has caused issues, fueled further due to the move from Origin to the EA App. The Steam version thus need some workaround to work properly as the game seems to ask for an activation code via the now defunct Origin.
Thankfully some users have shared some fixes, just like Steam user vB1OS has shared a full tutorial on how to do so for those interested in getting their hands on the Steam version. For those interested in an out of the box experience without fiddling around the EA App version is the recommended choice, as it doesn’t seem to have this issue.
