Baldur’s Gate 4: Hasbro Will Reveal Plans Soon
Hasbro is preparing for Baldur’s Gate 4 as it plans for franchise’s after developer Larian Studios moved on after BG3, and Hasbro senior vice president of digital games Dan Ayoub has said the company will soon share details.
During a recent interview with IGN at the 2025 Game Developers Conference, Hasbro’s Dan Ayoub revealed the company is “working out” plans for the future of Baldur’s Gate and that fans will hear about it “pretty short order.”
Since its release in 2023, when it was named Game of the Year and won countless awards and accolades, Hasbro has remained cautious about an upcoming Baldur’s Gate 4, with the company not wanting to rush into any decision after developer Larian Studios left the franchise.
What We Know So Far
There’s no getting around the fact that Baldur’s Gate was a massive success, and last year it was revealed that Hasbro was talking to “lots of partners” as they plan for Baldur’s Gate 4.
While they haven’t directly confirmed Baldur’s Gate 4, Ayoub has reassured fans that Hasbro has “a lot of plans” and is ready to “start dipping toes” into a few things as they explore potential avenues for the series. Ayoub continues to say that the company is in no rush but that it is “going to have some other things to talk about” soon.
Will Baldur’s Gate 4 Happen? Speculation and Possibilities
Undoubtedly we’re going to see a lot more Baldur’s Gate in the future, whether it’s BG4 or another title for the franchise. By admitting they are talking to various partners, Hasbro is almost confirming it has plans to expand the series.
Rather than a full sequel, Hasbro may focus on new stories set in the same universe with spin-offs or standalone expansions. Although, an expansion is highly unlikely with Larian Studios no longer the developer.
When to Expect an Official Announcement
Dan Ayoub has told fans to expect an announcement soon, but he did not include a concrete date or reveal what the announcement may reveal. Any significant Baldur’s Gate 4 news could be announced at Gamescom 2025 or at The Game Awards 2025.
In the meantime, fans can get stuck into Baldur’s Gate 3, which got a new update in January that added 12 new subclasses and several fixes and balance changes, including cross-platform multiplayer.
