Astrobotanica game announced by ex-Dying Light team

Astrobotanica is a new open-world survival game from indie developer Space Goblin Studio, a team consisting of former Dying Light and Dead Island devs. The game will launch into Early Access on Steam in 2025.

Astrobotanica game reveal

Described as a “relaxed survival” game, Astrobotanica is set on a prehistoric Earth and follows Xel, an extra-terrestrial who has crashed while looking for a way to feed their species.

Players are a botanist, who must learn to grow and process plants into food and medicine. Space Goblin Studio founder Arkadiusz Woźniak says the team wants to “bring new life to the survival genre by combining innovative gameplay with familiar themes”.

To that end, players can expect exploration, customer characterization with a deep progression system, base building, potion crafting, research, investigation, management mechanics, and a deep and rewarding story.

Astrobotanica releases into Early Access on PC sometime in 2025.
