Assassin’s Creed Shadows Pre-Orders EXPLODE Despite No Gameplay Shown

A few days after the official announcement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the new chapter in Ubisoft’s famous Assassin saga, some positive news regarding the number of pre-orders has already emerged. A well-known insider reports on the number of pre-orders from gamers.


Assassin’s Creed Shadows: The Pre-Order Boom

With the announcement trailer released on 15th May 2024, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has certainly captured the interest of many thanks to its distinctly cinematic trailer, as is customary from Ubisoft. Initially known as Codename Red in September 2022 during Ubisoft Forward, the teaser trailer confirmed the name change to Shadows. The game is set during the late Sengoku period, specifically during the conquest of Oda Nobunaga. The protagonist is Yasuke, a renowned samurai serving under the Daimyo and a unique historical figure due to his African origins. But that’s not all; Yasuke will be joined by the Shinobi Fujibayashi Naoe, who appears to be the daughter of the famous shinobi Fujibayashi Nagato.

In short, we have an Assassin’s Creed set in Feudal Japan, which has undoubtedly attracted the attention of many players. Indeed, the well-known insider @_Tom_Henderson_ confirms on Twitter (X) that the number of pre-orders for the game is quite solid, and although he does not have the exact number, he is confident that Ubisoft can certainly be satisfied with the initial numbers. This is despite Ubisoft not even showing the gameplay portion for the game yet.


Assassin’s Creed Shadows – The Issue Concerning Ubisoft

With the announcement and the start of pre-orders, many are certainly interested in learning more about the game’s technical aspects. While Assassin’s Creed Mirage did not exactly make a splash, it did mark a return to the series’ stealth and parkouring formula. However, it seems Ubisoft has decided to reintegrate the purely action component, with stealth being assigned to Naoe as a kunoichi and action to Yasuke as a samurai.This is one of the possibilities for the dual protagonist approach. This choice has not been well received by many, especially since the series’ games have always used fictional characters rather than real historical figures.

These facts, along with certain comments from key Ubisoft figures and the general direction of the latest games, do not seem to have significantly impacted Assassin’s Creed Shadows, at least in terms of initial pre-order sales. There are still 6 months left until the game’s release, on 15th November 2024, and we will likely see a gameplay trailer soon. Hoping it will address any doubts about the new installment in the Assassin’s Creed series.
