Altered Alma is an upcoming action-adventure game that blends the classic Metroidvania formula with cyberpunk aesthetics and RPG elements. Set in Neo Barcelona, players take on the role of Jackelyne who is a young mercenary navigating a dangerous underworld ruled by ruthless criminals. But the game isn’t all action as there’s also dating sim elements to it. This is optional so it’s up to you how you want to progress with the game’s narrative.

The game and the team behind it have gone through different conventions and exhibits not just to promote the game but to get feedback. And since the first playable demo in Gamescom last year, 2Awesome Studio has updated and released Altered Alma’s first public demo.

Altered Alma Demo and Platforms

Altered Alma demo is now up on Steam. It launched on September 3 with no indication of an end date so don’t worry if you’ve just come across it now.

The game will be released on Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch too but the demo is only playable on Steam for now. There is no announcement whether a demo will also be released for console platforms but highly possible when a release date is announced.

And since we’re on the topic of platforms, Altered Alma Mac support is in the future plans but the devs can’t confirm yet if it’s possible on launch day. As for mobile, there are no plans for this version yet.

Altered Alma Kickstarter Campaign

Alongside the release of the demo was the launch of the game’s Kickstarter Campaign which was a massive success. After only 4 days, the pledge goal was already met and is now on its way to its highest stretch goal of 250,000€.

There were 10 stretch goals in total which included difficulty settings, alternate endings, photomodem, and english voice dialogue.

Altered Alma Rewards

The campaign included an Early Bird Discount of 5€ applicable to all editions/bundles. However, that had an end date and is no longer redeemable even if there are some units left. To be fair though, if you’re just after the game, 20€ isn’t bad for preordering a very promising game. Or if you really just want to support it and the team, a 5€ pledge can get you the digital artbook, digital postcards, and HD wallpapers for both desktop and phone. Not a bad deal at all.

As you move up the tiers, you can purchase at least a Beta Tester pack to access the beta that is expected to launch Q2 of 2025. There are physical goodies too which includes a Kickstarter exclusive plushie and a limited edition figure.

The expensive tiers (up to 3000€) are pricey for a reason. These tiers let you in on the development of the game with some allowing you to help design a c-mod, an enemy, or even a boss. For the full list and inclusion of the campaign rewards, you can check here.
