Phantasy Star Online 2 Beta Begins February 7th

Phantasy Star Online 2, initially released in 2012, is finally set to release outside of Japan this Spring and players can get access to its very short beta that takes place February 7th and 8th. It’s a short beta, but for those hardcore fans planning on squeezing in nothing else those days, your progress will carry forward when the game releases. For those that make it into the beta there are special rewards to be gained for completing quests, including the Coated Edge weapon camo and the Mag Dreamcast evolution device as well as plenty of Triboosts.


Halo: MCC to Allow Buying and Selling of Mods

343, developers of Halo, have revealed in a blog post that they may allow modding in Halo: The Masterchief Collection. Without going into details about what their long-term plans for modding are, senior producer Michael Fahrny said that they are keen to “empower the modding community” on PC, but that first they must ensure they have the proper “ground rules and guard rails” in place. He also mentioned that this could include the ability to buy and sell the mods in the Steam Workshop, an interesting note ahead of Halo Infinite’s release later this year.


The Terminator Enters Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint – The Terminator Event is set to begin this week. Ubisoft have been pretty tight-lipped about what the event includes with only a teaser trailer for the event released, in which we don’t even get to see The Terminator, but it is believed by many that it will be a lot like Ghost Recon: Wildland’s Predator event in 2017 that tasked players with defeating the intergalactic hunter. Players will simply have to learn more by taking part in The Terminator Event from January 29th.


Metro Exodus’ Second DLC Coming in February

Sam’s Story, the second expansion for Metro Exodus, will launch on February 11th for PS4, PC, Xbox One and Google Stadia. Playing as Sam, players will forge a path through the ruined remains of Vladivostok on a mission that will see Sam attempt to make his way back home to the USA from Russia with the hope of finding his family alive. There is no price as of yet for the DLC, but the previous DLC, The Two Colonels, is priced at £7, €8 or $8.


Dreams Celebrates Creators with 1st Annual Awards

Ahead of its official PS4 release next month, Dreams by developer Media Molecule has celebrated its growing creator community by holding its 1st Annual IMPY Awards. Established to celebrate “the very best content and creators from Dreams”, there were 21 categories in total with the Creator of the Year award going to SlurmMacKenzie and Dream of the Year awarded to Pig Detective: Adventures in Cowboy Town by SdeReu & Lotte_Double. Dreams will come out of its early access next month on February 14th.


Patapon 2 Remastered Releases January 30th

Patapon 2 Remastered, the quirky rhythm action game, will launch this Thursday on January 30th. Initially released in 2008 for the PSP, the game challenges players to command tiny troops with the power of rhythm in 2D action. The remastered version promises support for 4K output and will give players new Patapon evolutions and new mini games. For those interested in knowing more you can pick up the first game, Patapon Remastered for the PS4 for $14.99.


Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Tops UK Charts for 2nd Week

Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has topped the UK video game sales chart for a second week, beating Call of Duty: Modern Warfare by just 400 units. It’s an impressive feat when considering the top 10 also includes the ever-popular Grand Theft Auto V, EA’s FIFA 20 and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Ubisoft’s movement sensation Just Dance 2020. The interesting one outside of the Top 10 is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which has risen to number 12, five years after release, after the successful Witcher series on Netflix.


Rainbow Six Pro League Season 11 Playday 7 Recap

Playday 7 of the Rainbow Six Pro League Season 11 saw the European standings get a lot of movement with some shock results. Rogue moved two points clear at the top of the standings with a 7-5 win over forZe who remain bottom. Team Vitality move third with a 7-4 over Chaos Esports Club and G2 Esports moved to fourth from fifth win a solid 7-4 win against Team Empire who fall to second place. The last match saw Natus Vincere move from bottom of the table up two places to sixth after a their 7-4 win against BDS Esport who drop down to fifth from third.


Call of Duty League Peaks at 102,000 Viewers

Call of Duty remains one of the biggest franchises in gaming with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare still topping sales charts, and now the inaugural Call of Duty League has seen a peak of more than 102,000 viewers tune in to watch the event live on YouTube. Numbers were strong throughout the event that ran from January 24th to January 26th, but the peak viewership of 102,000 happened during the grudge match between OpTic Gaming and, founder H3CZ’s new team, The Chicago Huntsman. For those wondering, The Chicago Huntsman won the match 3-0.


DragonFang: Drahn’s Mystery Dungeon Hits Steam February 4th

Legendary story-rich tactical rogue-like RPG, DragonFang: Drahn’s Mystery Dungeon, hits Steam February 4th. The series, first introduced in 1993 with Torneko no Daibōken: Fushigi no Dungeon, has seen various levels of success, most notably with the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon spinoffs, will now be available on PC. The game will have players experience the story of a young Dragonian in a world where dragons are slowly becoming extinct. It will be free to download upon release with in-game purchases available.


Dying Light Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Freebie and Event

Dying Light is celebrating its fifth anniversary and Techland are treating all players who own the game across all platforms, and all those who will own it in the future, to their Brutal Royale title, Dying Light: Bad Blood. The game, released in early access in 2018, sees 12 players fight zombies and each other to become the last survivor. Promising further support for the game and an in-game event, Techland also announced an affiliate program, where players can invite a friend to the game for both to receive a free gold-tier weapon docket.


Rocket League Linux and Mac Support to be Halted

Psyonix announced early this month that the Linux and Mac support for Rocket League will stop with the upcoming March update. There is only a small percent of players on Linux and Mac which is why the support will be halted. Even though that is the case, Psyonix promised to refund those who will be affected by the update. The refund can be done through Steam via the Steam Support website. Players would just have to go to Purchases, then to Rocket League, select I would like a refund and state the reason.


Ark: Genesis Part 1 Delayed to February 2020

The first part of the action-adventure game Ark: Genesis has been delayed once again. It now has a launch date of February 25th. The game was first announced to launch by December 2019, then January 2020. This new game will allow players to “uncover an original secret backstory to the world of ARK”. It will also come with new biomes, a new map as well as new creatures. A new floating AI companion will also be available called HLN-A, this is an acronym for Human Learning Neural Aid.


Rainbow Six Siege Gets Vulkan API Support

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is getting a Vulkan API support as announced by Ubisoft. Vulcan was chosen over DirectX 12 as it shows better CPU performance during the internal tests of the team. The key features that Vulcan will be bringing to the table are Dynamic Texture Indexing, Render Target Aliasing and Async Compute. These will offer improved graphical performance as well as lower CPU and GPU cost.


Bridge Constructor Ultimate Edition to Arrive on Switch

The Bridge Constructor Ultimate Edition will be launching on the Nintendo Switch on January 31st. This will come with 40 main levels on the island nation of Camatuga. There will be two add-ons as well which are SlopeMania and Trains. SlopeMania will have 24 tricky levels with sloping lanes. Trains will add 18 more levels that will have you building stronger bridges. Enjoy building bridges in the 5 different settings which are City, Canyon, Beach, Mountains, and Hills.


Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales Launches on Nintendo Switch

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales has launched on the Nintendo Switch. The game is a role-playing, single-player experience that comes with narrative-driven exploration with turn-based battles and unique battles. Get to follow the story of the war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms named Meve. She is facing a coming invasion by the Nilfgaardian and is forced into war. Free digital goodies are available with the game like its official soundtrack, concept art and the map of Lyria.


Apex Legends Season 4 Launches on February 4th

The Apex Legends Season 4 has been announced by Respawn Entertainment and it comes with stories from the Outlands. This will come with the new seasonal content expansion which will have a new Legend, changes to the World’s Edge, the Sentinel, a new bolt-action sniper rifle and so much more like loyalty rewards and a new Battle Pass. The Apex Legends Season 4 – Assimilation is set to launch on February 4.


Red and Blue a New Digital Card Game Revealed

A new digital card game has been announced by Brilliant Games and Hex Entertainment and it is called Red and Blue. The game will be offering more than 750 cards to build your decks with, create a dynamic elemental battlefield, capture your enemies with traps and artifacts, discover a new fantasy world, and enjoy the game’s fast-paced thrilling combat. Red and Blue is set to launch on smartphones and tablets by the second quarter of this year. But it is planned to be a multiplatform game.


Blood of Steel Update Adds Two New Heroes

Blood of Steel is getting its very first content update as announced by Evolution Studio. This update will come with two new heroes, Zhen Ji and Ying Zheng. Also, a new customization feature will be added called the Star System. This new system will allow players to personalize the outfits of their generals in a new and contemporary way. There will also be new items that will be added with the update The new Blood of Steel update can be expected by February 20th.


Possible Resident Evil 8 Game Leaked

A rumor has leaked about having a Resident Evil 8 game. Rumors have it that Ethan Winters from Resident Evil 7 will be the main playable character in the game. Also, the setting will start in a village that would then lead up to a castle. The environment gives a ‘Europe-feel’ with snow and mountains. The enemies will be more of wolf-like creatures but there will still be regular zombies. There will also be a shadowy female enemy that will be following you. Right now, nothing has been confirmed.


The Coma 2: Vicious Sister Out Now

The Coma 2: Vicious Sister has fully launched as announced by Headup and Devespresso Games. This is an atmospheric, story-driven Korean survival horror game that will have players stepping into the shoes of Mina Park who experiences with the Shadow Realm for the first time. The full launch includes a new ending and theme song, new dialogue, secret rooms, bonus wallpapers, new “kill screens”, trading cards and 10 additional achievements. The game is available for PC, Mac and Linux.


Horror Othercide is Looking for Beta Testers

Horror game Othercide from Lightbulb Crew is looking for beta testers. The game is about mystical warriors called Daughters who are trying to keep humanity safe from the extradimensional terrors. The game has reached a part of its development where community feedback is needed. Developers are looking for around 1000 closed beta testers who are 18 years of age and up, has a Steam account and can speak English or French as well as a capable PC. The closed beta comes with an NDA.
