The 37th Annual Golden Joystick Awards was held at the Bloomsbury Big Top in London this weekend and gave honour to some of the best games we’ve seen this year. Assassin’s Creed actor and professional comedian Danny Wallace hosted the event which was attended by the industry’s biggest publishers and development studios.

There are a lot of awards to go through, but the big winners this year are World of Warcraft Classic (PC), Days Gone (PS4), Gears 5 (Xbox One), Super Smash Bros. Even though some of the picks here might be a little hard to swallow for you, you need to remember that all the winners were voted for by the general public. Assuming the votes were considered fairly and no other factors affected the results, then these awards are pretty much representative of what the majority of gamers loved these past 12 months.

The awkward part here is that the event is held in the middle of November and as such some big releases were left out, such as Death Stranding and The Outer Worlds, for next year’s awards ceremony. You’ll have to wait to vote for them then.
