2. DYING LIGHT 2
Killing zombies has never been more fun than when we could parkour our way through endless numbers of the undead in 2015’s Dying Light. Developed by Techland you can expect more parkour, more terrifying moments, more dismemberments, more beheadings and most importantly more dropkicks. Mod your weapon and slice your way through a unique survival horror action role-playing game with friends on PS4, Xbox One and PC.DYING LIGHT 2 Summary
The greater good might well need some items from that black market – and if you save the city, or more lives than were lost in this region, thanks to the money and goods that come from siding with the gang, isn’t it the more compassionate choice? We don’t know, but seeing as Dying Light 2 already has us asking the hard questions, we’re really looking forward to seeing what other moral quandaries it puts us in next year.

Top 10 Zombie Games 2019
10. CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS 4
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 has always been a juggernaut in the gaming world as it capitalized on and greatly contributed to the growth of the first person shooter genre. Most FPS lovers have played the game in some capacity and recall being magnetized for a host of different reasons. For many, it is the zombie mode that serves as the pinochle of fun. In said mode players are tasked with surviving waves of infectious hoards of zombies that scale upward in difficulty and intensity.
9. DAYZ
Bohemia Interactive did a remarkable job in developing the authentic post-apocalyptic experience that DayZ offers. Players report being immersed in the game-play as characters are personified and mirror real-world human-like characteristic like the need to eat, sleep, rest and regulate body temperature. All those factors preserve the thought that you can fall at any moment to factors outside of hostile players and the ravenous undead which earns it a spot among the top zombie games.
8. THEY ARE BILLIONS
They Are Billions is a Steampunk strategy game in which players are tasked with developing colonies while defending them against hoards of zombies on a post-apocalyptic planet. The only way to stop them is to terminate them as barricades are only temporary impediments. Their numbers will appear unaffected by your efforts but you must fight nonetheless. The game also has a quite a bit of depth as it forces players to account for fate defining factors outside of the charging cannibalistic creatures.
7. DYING LIGHT THE FOLLOWING
Dying Light: The Following refers to the base game Dying Light and the expansion The Following. The game is very much impressive absent the DLC but there is a reason this expansion has received very positive reviews from the players. This iteration, in particular, gets much of its praise from the polished look it sports courtesy of the Chrome Engine 6. It looks, feels and plays astoundingly well while maintaining the zombie-survival concepts players know and love.
6. KILLING FLOOR 2
Killing Floor 2 was released in winter of 2016 and it has warmed the hearts of zombie-survival game enthusiasts since. The game has a low skill floor and a relatively high skill ceiling which makes it very accessible to new players while maintaining a semblance of challenge for the seasoned veterans. Its unique characters and the fact that it encourages camaraderie by allowing parties of u to six players are among the list of factors that make it one of the best Zombie titles available.
5. WAR OF THE ZOMBIE
Van der Veer Games has published and developed a zombie game named War of the Zombie. It is evident that the developers are confident about this title as it is being marketed as an amalgamation of the best “turn-based simulation and real-time strategic gameplay action across the entire world”; A very bold statement that was corroborated by positive reviews. It encompasses the initial stages of a mysterious undead outbreak and challenges players to survive all the chaos therein.
4. THE WALKING DEAD
It is always risky creating games based on successful series because of the potentially career-ending criticism possible should developers fail. Telltale Games took the said risk in creating The Walking Dead and it has paid off big time, as the game continues to be one of the best zombie games in the world. The fact that the game is story-driven is a major selling point as it preserves the interest of players who require more than just another survival game.
3. PLANTS VS ZOMBIES
It is normal to say a game has done its time once it has hit the decade mark but not PopCap Games’ Plants vs. Zombies. This zombie game was released in 2009 yet it persists to grow and evolve cementing its place among the best zombie games to date. It is eccentric in character and has quite a bit of depth associated which definitely helps with its player retention. When a developer listens to its community and remains invested in the project, a seat among the top games in the genre is inevitable.
2. LEFT 4 DEAD
Left 4 Dead is one of those titles that age like fine wine as the older it gets, the more consumers appreciate it. The game was widely embraced at launch, so much so that the developer made a sequel. While the sequel did well and other Left 4 Dead inspired zombie games saw great success, players still returned to the Left 4 Dead as it was the right blend of attributes players seek in a zombie game. The game is available on Steam if you wish to join the lot that praises the game if for the masterpiece it is.
1. RESIDENT EVIL 2
Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 performed incredibly well at launch in 1998. It quickly became a fan favourite and a source of inspiration for developers who later created games within the same genre. From there the developers continued the series up until a 7th instalment but players always referenced Resident Evil 2 as one of, if not their favourite iterations. Capcom used the feedback from the fans then remade Resident Evil 2 and to no surprise, it completely outdid all prior releases.
