Xbox Game Pass New Option: Core Replaces Xbox Live Gold
Starting from this September 14, Microsoft has decided to replace the long running service of Xbox Live Gold with the new Xbox Game Pass Core. A move that seems to cement the idea of Xbox service being available to both PC and Microsoft’s consoles. While also avoiding any confusion with the naming schemes.
The new lineup will thus result in:
- Xbox Game Pass Core: at €6.99 / $9.99 / £6.99 per month
- Xbox Game Pass Console: at €10.99 / $10.99/ £7.99 per month
- Xbox Game Pass PC: at €9.99 / $9.99 /£8.99 per month
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: at €14.99 / $16.99 / £12.99 per month
Following the price adjustment of last July, for the most part the prices has remained the same while the new Xbox Game Pass Core now essential for the online experience on console brings new interesting extras.
Xbox Game Pass Core vs Xbox Live Gold
The question that every Xbox user is having is: “what’s different in this new service?”. Well, for the most part the price will remain the same as the Xbox Live Gold, meaning any member will see their subscription time converted to the new plan.
You’ll still receive exclusive deals of up to 50% off on selected titles as well as access to selected titles during the Free Play Days. But the most important feature is that the new Core subscriber will have access to a catalogue of 25+ titles, with 19 confirmed titles and new titles periodically added.

These are the confirmed lineup for the new Core subscription.
Definitely a good selection of titles, and undeniable the presence of Bethesda titles thanks to the acquisition by Microsoft. As well as the must-have Halo entries with Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2. Not to mention Psychonauts 2 and Grounded,, the respective winners of the 2021 and 2022 Xbox GOTY Golden Joystick Awards, the still great Forza Horizon 4 and more!
